Thinnest to thickest. Then wait.
The order, the wait between steps, and which ingredients can share a routine, on one page. Print it and stick it on your bathroom mirror.
Morning
Under 5 minutes.
- 1
Gentle cleanser
Rinse away overnight sebum. Water only is fine if your skin is not oily.
- 2
Hydrating toner
First layer of water. Pat in, do not rub. Can repeat 2–3 times.
- 3
Essence / serum
Target your #1 concern: brightening, barrier, or anti-aging.
- 4
Eye cream (optional)
Tap gently around the orbital bone with your ring finger. Never drag.
- 5
Moisturizer
Seal all previous layers. Choose the weight for your skin type.
- 6
Sunscreen SPF 50+
Non-negotiable. About ¼ teaspoon for the face, or two finger-lengths.
Evening
7–8 minutes.
- 1
Oil cleanser
Remove sunscreen, makeup, and daily pollution.
- 2
Water cleanser
Second cleanse to remove remaining residue.
- 3
Exfoliant, 2–3× a week only
AHA for surface, BHA for pores. Never daily for beginners.
- 4
Hydrating toner
Restore hydration lost during cleansing. Layer 2–3 times.
- 5
Treatment serum
Retinoid, peptides, or niacinamide. PM is the repair window.
- 6
Moisturizer / sleeping mask
Richer than AM. Overnight mask 2–3× a week for extra repair.
Apply thinnest to thickest. If a product pills (rolls off), you are applying it on top of something too heavy, or too soon. Reverse the order or wait a minute.
One new product at a time. Patch-test. Seal your hydration. Wear sunscreen every day. Stay consistent for at least 8 weeks.
Keep vitamin C for mornings; keep exfoliants and retinoids for evenings, and ideally not on the same night for beginners. When in doubt, hydrate and moisturize.
How long to wait before the next step.
| Step | Wait before the next step |
|---|---|
| Toner | 30–60 seconds, until slightly tacky |
| Essence | 60 seconds |
| Serum | 60–90 seconds |
| Moisturizer | 2–3 minutes before SPF |
| Sunscreen | 5 minutes before makeup |
Total: under 5 minutes in the morning, 7–8 minutes at night. If your routine takes longer than that, you are doing too much.
What you can and can’t layer.
| Ingredient A | Ingredient B | Combine? | Notes |

| Retinal | AHA / BHA | Beginners: no | Too much exfoliation; separate nights. |
| Retinal | Niacinamide | Yes | Niacinamide can help reduce retinal irritation. |
| HA | Ceramides | Yes | A natural pair: HA hydrates, ceramides help seal it in. |
| Peptides | Vitamin C | Yes | Complementary; fine in the same routine. |
| Peptides | AHA / BHA | Caution | Low pH may reduce some peptides’ effectiveness; separate them. |
| Centella | Retinal | Yes | Centella can help calm retinal irritation. |
| Niacinamide | BHA | Yes | A strong pairing for oily skin. |
| PDRN | Anything | Yes | No known conflicts; layer after watery serums. |
| Copper peptide | Vitamin C (L-ascorbic) or strong acids | Caution | Use at different times of day. |
